Tie-ups with popular TV Programs for the promotion of films

Tie-up of a film producer or marketing team of a film with TV Programs for promotion of their films.

There are very many ways to tie-up for promotion & marketing of a film with popular TV Programs, but the two most common ways are paid and unpaid.

In the Paid Tie-Up a producer pays to TV channels for promotion of film. Again, the same show might offer a paid option to Producer A & unpaid Option to Producer B.

For example, say there is a hugely popular show Comedy Nights with Nikhil. Producer A, who has a relatively new cast is asked to pay INR10Lakhs by the V show producers to promote their film on the show.

Producer B tells the producers of the show that since the film has an A-list cast of superstars, they won’t pay for the promotions on the show, instead they want a barter deal where Producer B’s film gets promoted on the TV show and the TV Show in turn gets promoted by A-list superstars on Producer B’s film.

Factors that affects a producers decision to tie up with a TV Program or TV Show to market the film

The major factor that affects a producers decision to tie-up with a TV show to make the film is the TRP (Television Rating Points), TRP are a measure of a TV show’s success with the television viewing audiences, higher the TRP means a higher number of audiences are watching the TV show; which in turn means a producer’s films’ promotion reaches a higher number of audiences by tying up with that TV show.
